PL King Charles scored well to gain a merit award during the 2024 NZWA Classification Tour

Dam Sire - ES Heartbreaker

In March 2013, ES Heartbreaker’s 3⁄4 brother Heartbeat (by Heartbreaker from grand dam Elly (Ramiro Z)), was named 2013 Danish Warmblood Stallion of the Year in Herning, Denmark. Heartbeat himself competes at 1.60m level and received the following report at his presentation. “In the Young Horse Championship he scored maximum points as he received eight times 10. Heartbeat made his debut in international jumping in 2008 and has booked numerous placings and victories. He has sired champion and premium stallions as well as highly decorated mares. “

Said Poul Graugaard, chairman of the licensing commission, “He is bred in Holland and came to Denmark as a 3-year-old with an impact few before him has mustered.”

The only blood separating ES Heartbreaker and Heartbeat is that of 1.60m SJ Hamlet, sire of legendary Hickstead!

Sire Heartbreaker’s achievements in both his show jumping career and as a sire are endless. He has topped the Jumping Index for Belgium and Holland for many years, and currently leads with a phenomenal score of 184 points. Heartbreaker has been named ‘Ambassador of the Belgium Warmblood Association’ for having the most offspring in the top 100 of the World Breeding Rankings.

Euro Sport Heartbreaker’s dam Nufrieda competed to 1.40m as a 7 year old before being put in foal. Nufrieda’s talent was no surprise given the success of her family. Her dam Elly is by Sire of the Century Ramiro Z, and carries the highest predicate for mares in the KWPN of Prestatie. Elly is from the same mare as international 1.60m show jumper, B.Jonggor.

Dam: PL Queen of Hearts

Grand Sire: Chopin VA

Mathilda Karlsson & Chopin VA are said to have a special bond which would explain the huge amount of success they have shared together. Including qualifying and competing at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics representing Sri Lanka. Holsteiner Verband stand a son of Chopin VA - Chincero and here is what they had to say about him: "Chopin is the result of the breeding philosophy and steadfastness of his breeder, Manfred von Allwörden, on the basis of stem 5064, a mare family held in high esteem at Grönwohldhof, with the foundation mare H Cabida. Chopin is out of her daughter Odina and by world class sport horse and sire Casall. Born in 2009, Chopin has been carefully produced by Mathilda Karlsson for years now; being her current no.1 Global Champions Tour mount, he also carries his rider’s hopes for the Tokyo Olympics. Chopin is an exception in international top level sport. Jumping quality, carefulness, and willingness to perform are synonyms for Chopin."

Sire: Chopano VDL

Chopano VDL

The talented Chopano is a son of the very interesting Grand Prix-showjumper Chopin VA. Ridden by Mathilda Karlsson, the Casall-son Chopin makes a big impression at the highest level and his oldest offspring seem excellent. Last year, the sons of Chopin jumped in the spotlight at the various stallion approvals, including Chopano himself. At international top level, Chopin impresses with his endless scope, rideability and excellent jumping technique; with Mathilda Karlsson he participated in 2019 in the largest competitions in the world, such as Falsterbo, Stockholm, St. Tropez, Knokke, Hamburg and Rome. Chopano's dam's sire Cassini I is undeniably one of the most influential stallions of his generation and the same goes for great-grandsire Caretino. Top sires Lord, Cor de la Bryere and the thoroughbred Sacramento Song xx complete Chopano's pedigree.

Chopano's dam Tamara XIII already produced the international 1.50m-showjumper Zooey of the British Georgia Tame, while her grandson Chinchero - also a son of Chopin VA - became vice-champion of the Holsteiner Stallion Show and was sold for 400,000 euros in the auction. Chopano’s granddam Niveau I produced several international showjumpers and approved stallions, including the 1.50m-classified Valetta V (Lisa Zoller). In addition, Level I is the half-sister of the 1.50m showjumper Calato’s Charles (Veronica Bot) and the full sister of 1.60m showjumper Casseur de Prix of USA's Jenni McAllister.

At the Zangersheide Stallion Show in Lanaken, Chopano stood out with his impressive conformation, great way of jumping and seemingly endless scope. The Chopin-son therefore earned his breeding license with ease and with his interesting pedigree, appearance and jumping technique he seems to be an asset to breeding.
